1st Ellon Boys' Brigade Company

Anchor Section

This age group has its own programme called Anchors based on five areas; body, mind, spirit, community and creativity. The emphasis is on fun and programme activities include games, crafts, stories and opportunities to learn and share in new experiences.
 
Throughout their time in the Anchors Section, children can gain badges and recognition for their participation in the programme.
 
Activities include games, crafts, singing, story telling, marching, worship and much more.

When does it happen? 5pm - 6pm on a Wednesday (September to May during term time)

Junior Section

This age group has its own programme called Juniors based on five areas; body, mind, spirit, community and creativity. The programme provides challenges, adventure and opportunities to learn and grow. The fun and engaging programme enables the children to work in a team and take more responsibility.
 
Juniors also have the opportunity to go on camps and residential trips, and for some this will be their first night away from home.
 
Throughout their time in the Juniors Section, children can gain badges and recognition for their participation in the programme.
 
During the evening the boys learn about Boys Brigade, carrry out achievements towards badges and trophies, practice marching (which always goes down well), play games and above all have fun. Being an integral part of Ellon Parish Church, the Boys Brigade take part in several events throughout the year including Armistice Day, coffee mornings, Christmas card delivery and nor forgetting of course ushers at the Ellon Panto.
 
These all help to make the boys feel part of the community.

Company & Seniors
Sections

Company Section:
This age group has its own programme called ‘Discover’ based on three areas; community, recreation and skills. Young people get the chance to develop existing skills and learn new ones, through a fun, balanced and challenging programme of activities.
 
Young people are encouraged to have a say and help shape their own programme.
 
They can get involved in anything from helping others in their local community to playing sports, trying out adventure activities or being creative through dance or art – there’s something for everyone!
 
There are also opportunities to go away on camps and residentials, which are often the highlights in the annual programme.
 
Seniors Section:
Young people in this age group are encouraged to lead their own programme, supported by volunteer leaders. It’s all about the young people deciding what they would like to do and organising it for themselves.
 
The Challenge Plus programme for this age group is based on projects and challenges, encouraging young people to complete one-off challenges and more in-depth projects both of which can be tackled individually or as part of a team. Activities may include ‘Homelessness’, ‘Conservation’, ‘Driving’, ‘Preparing for Work’ amongst many more.
 
There are opportunities to go away on camps and residentials, which are often the highlights in the annual programme. In addition there may be international opportunities open to the Seniors Section, ranging from attending BB events abroad to volunteering on community projects in developing countries.

Explorers & Juniors Section

Explorers Section:
The Explorers is the youngest section of the Girls' Brigade, focusing on helping girls who are just beginning their educational journey to take part in the GB Journey.
 
Juniors Section:
Juniors is the section for girls' who have reached primary 4 and are willing to take the next great step of the GB Journey or even start their own GB Journey if they choose to join at this stage.

Brigaders Section

Brigaders is the third and final stage of the GB Journey and is for young women of Secondary School age.
 
Brigaders provides all of its members with a wide selection of opportunities and experiences.
 
During their time in Brigaders our girls have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award or the Girls' Brigade's own Queen's Award.
These are the two highest accolades that a young member of the Girls' Brigade can aspire to.
