LIFE GROUPS

Who are Life Groups for?
Anyone!
Some folks have come from the Alpha Course as they've loved getting to know others in smaller groups and would like to explore more about faith.  Others have been in small groups before and have been keen to join.  Others are brand new to small groups and just giving it a go!

What are they?
Life Groups are small groups that meet to get to know each other and explore faith together and what it means for our daily lives.  We currently have 3 groups which are all slightly different.  But in common they each: meet in folks houses, have a cuppa as part of the session, are open to anyone, explore faith based topics and are outward looking so each tries to apply their conclusions to their world outside of the group.

When do they take place?
Evening Book Group
This group reads a book together, so everyone is given a copy of the book that the group
chooses and reads a couple of chapters in between groups.  At the groups they discuss what
they've read...the conversations are vast and varied!   Currently they're reading
"Unbelievable?: Why after ten years of talking with atheists, I'm still a Christian"
by Justin Brierley

Date: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month
Time: 7.30pm
Venue: Strathnavar, Station Road (across from Ellon Market)
Leader: Andy Bruce

Evening Video & Discussion
This group follows a similar format to Alpha, but with tea and cake instead of the full meal!  They watch a video and then chat about it.  They've just finished a great series called "Jesus The Game Changer" which has been really thought provoking and helpful.  On 25th April they're moving on to a new series by John Orteberg called "When the Game Is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box".

Date: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month
Time: 7pm for 7.30pm
Venue: 7 Davan Place
Leaders: Neil & Elaine Henderson

Daytime Bible Study
This group meets on a Friday afternoon and has chosen to have a look at the book of Acts in the Bible and see what life was like for folk just after Jesus had been on the Earth.  So far we've seen Jesus' friends decide whether to scatter, run or stay and see what's going to happen, we've seen some amazing instances of healing, speaking out and basically the beginning of a radical Movement that inspired thousands!  We've seen how the started to organise themselves and that humanity then wasn't much different from humanity now!  We're about half way through, so lots of adventures still to come!

Date: Fridays fortnightly (coincides with Friday Prayers)
Time: 1-3pm
Venue: The Haven, Station Road (next to the Esso garage)
Leaders: Nicola Bruce and Alison Young

How much does it cost?
Life Groups are  completely free of charge!
